Watercooler: January 25, 2005
The Scientific Watercooler meetings, hosted by the Center for Computation and Visualization, are informal gatherings of researchers who need to use high performance computing to enable their research. These meetings are usually scheduled on the last Tuesday of each month at 4:00PM in the CIT Swig Boardroom.
This month’s meeting agenda will include the following topics:
"Molecular Dynamics of large Bio-molecular Systems"
Presented by Dale Mierke, Associate Professor, Medical Sciences
Dynamics and motions are extremely vital for the biological function of a number of protein systems. The use of distance geometry and molecular dynamics simulations to probe dynamics and motions of large bio-molecular systems will be discussed.
Dale will also discuss this project and the essential need for HPC to further his research efforts.
